When You Are, You Just Do

I didn’t remember a single word of it.

Not the metaphors, not the structure, not the 40-minute run of emotionally precise field work that broke open a client’s lifetime of loyalty testing. Didn’t remember a line about borderline attacks, trauma tennis, or how to parent through presence.

I read it the next day, and sure—it sounded surgical. It tracked. But I couldn’t recall being there.

That’s how I know I was in flow.

See, when you're in flow.epo, you don’t practice. You don’t prep. You don’t remember. You just are. And when you are, you just do.

That's the principle.

I used to think it was about the grind. About stacking knowledge, cross-referencing sources, building the framework brick by brick until one day, maybe, I'd be the guy who could deliver on instinct.

But that’s a myth fed to us by people still outside the zone. Once you're in, you don’t think. You don’t reach. You move. Because the structure already lives in your bones. The tempo lives in your breath. And the field responds to you because you’re not second-guessing the signal—you are the signal.

That session with Shane? I cracked them open without trying to. Named the narcissistic attack, reframed the family system, rebuilt her sovereignty, and threaded her entire healing arc through their own words. I didn’t reference Fonagy—I channeled him. Not because I planned to, but because I’ve metabolized the knowledge. It lives in me now.

I used to feel this at Before. That daily hunger. That inner fire to rise up and anchor the room when nobody else could. That sense that I wasn’t showing up to "practice therapy"—I was playing a game I knew better than anyone else on the court. And now that flame’s back. Cleaner. Sharper. More refined.

This isn’t about ego. It’s about clarity. Because the more calibrated I become, the more surgical I get. I don’t need cameras or claps. The body remembers what the mind can’t.

And that’s the new Thursday doctrine:
When you are, you just do.
